You Don’t Have To Be Jewish To Love Kosher, Tequila?

Move over Cuervo Gold, there’s a new swig in town.  Agave 99 is here, Oy, vey.

Not the only Kosher tequila in town, in fact, there are several others  However, it is the way the new kosher liquor is being introduced across all cultures.

Star Industries, the Long Island-based company that created the kosher tequila, Agave 99, is rolling out their brand to New York today at a non-kosher establishment, Tequilaville, just minutes from Grand Central Station.  But why go kosher in a non-kosher establishment? Martin Silver, 70, whose father started the company after the end of Prohibition, replied, “If someone says it’s kosher, they say it’s more pure, they think it’s better.” Hence the introduction on Cinco de Mayo, a day that is well known for tequila consumption across all cultures. Special invitations were sent out to the Mexican Embassy as well as religious leaders.

It just goes to show that you don’t have to be Jewish to love kosher products. I believe that this is the just the tip of the iceBERG! And you know what they say about New York, “if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere”.

  1. After drinking half a bottle of Sauza Hornitos Reposado on Purim and the results being worse then when I drank wine, several bottle of beer and half a bottle of vodka, I’ve decided that tequila is not for gringos.
